How do I select the Correct Holster Rest for my gun?

  • The Standard Holster Rest is made to accept guns with a slide width less than 1"  similar to a Sig P238, Kimber Carry, S&W Shield and other small frame guns. It works with thin holsters with a belt clip or loop, Kydex Holsters and it work best with Our Ultra Grip Holsters or similar rubberized coated pocket holster.
  • The Wide Holster Rest is made for large frame guns and revolvers similar to a Glock 19, S&W M&P, Taurus Model 85 .38 Special revolver and up to a Taurus Judge. It works with many nylon, smooth leather and suede holsters with a belt loop or clip. Kydex holsters do not work with the Wide Holster Rest
  • If you have a large frame gun and a small frame gun the Wide Holster Rest is your best choice as you can use it for either size gun dependent upon the holster you use for the small frame gun.

Why do I need to use a Side Mount Adapter?

  • The Side Mount Adapter allows you to mount your gun on the back side of a night stand, a bed rail, desk or the console of you vehicle. The purpose is to place the Holster Rest in an accessible position and provide the proper distance from the mounting surface so you can properly place your hand fully on the grip of the gun.
 

What is the Adhesion Promoter?

  • The Adhesion Promoter is used to prep the plastic parts in your vehicle so the adhesive strips will properly adhere. Plastic components do not allow any adhesives to stick to them without the use of a adhesion promoter. The Adhesion Promoter is applied after the surface has been properly cleaned. The Adhesion Promoter is included in the Side Mount Adapter Kit and can also be purchased separately
 

Do I need a Side Mount Adapter to mount the Holster Rest in a vehicle?

  • The Holster Rest can be mounted on the side of the console or directly to the instrument panel. The Side Mount Adapter is  required to mount the Holster Rest on the console of the vehicle to provide the proper distance from the mounting surface so you can properly place your hand fully on the grip of the gun. You can mount the Holster Rest directly to the Instrument panel on some vehicles. We recommend that you use the side mount adapter as it will keep the gun closer to the instrument panel and not interfere with your leg. You will need 3" of flat surface to ensure good adhesion. If you want to mount it to the instrument panel without the side mount adapter, you will still need to purchase and use the Adhesion promoter.
 

What kind of holsters work with the Holster Rests?

  • The Holster Rests are made to work with holsters that have a belt loop or clip. If your holster has a belt loop or clip it should work. There are a certain types of holsters that do not work, i.e. paddle holsters, holsters with front and rear belt loops and plastic holsters. There are several guns (S&W Shield and Glock 42 etc..) using an IWB Kydex holster that work well with the Standard Holster Rest.
